Nick Carter

Nick is an expert HR leader with wider experience in Organisational Learning and Development. He has particular capability and expertise in guiding HR practitioners on a wide range of people management issues across a breadth of business sectors.

Nick began his career at Enterprise Rent a Car leading the largest rental branch in the South West. He then took up a commission in the Royal Air Force as a Personnel Support Officer, undertaking a variety of HR leadership and management appointments including a deployment to Afghanistan to lead HR operations for the joint helicopter force.

More recently he was the Learning & Organisational Development Manager at Cardiff & Vale College, responsible for the design and delivery of CIPD, HR, leadership and mental health courses across the Cardiff Capital Region. He has recently designed a mental health initiative for Golley Slater & Hodge Bank, supported redundancy activity at Aberthaw power station (RWE) and designed various bite size training initiative for Wales & West Utilities.

Nick is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and a member of the CIPD (Wales) policy forum and has a seat on the CIPD (Wales) L&D forum. He is a qualified higher education lecturer and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has previously been shortlisted as Best HR professional in Education/Charity Sector.

With a passion for personnel management and sharing this enthusiasm to others, it was a pleasure to work with Nick. As the lead for HR Assurance he was always forward leaning and able to adapt to his surroundings. His energy ensured he brought his staff along with him as he developed and nurtured the 40 HR teams across the UK. Nick is one to watch in the ‘People’ space and I would be delighted to collaborate again in the future.
